If you cannot find yourself, create yourself

Create more than you consume, show up consistently, and take control of your own narrative.

I’m not a famous influencer. I do not have millions of followers or a collection of viral posts. But as someone who spends a great deal of time thinking about creativity and cognition, I have realised something important: if you cannot find yourself, create yourself.

It is easy to become trapped in the scroll, watching other people create, build and grow their platforms. We start consuming more than we contribute and comparing more than we create. The value of creating content, however, is not found in perfection. It is found in being present and developing a point of view through practice.

When you share a thought, an idea or a story, you are shaping who you are. You are taking part in your own narrative instead of allowing an algorithm or the latest trend to define it for you.

Three practices that help me

  • Create more than you consume: Make something and share it, even when it still feels imperfect.
  • Choose consistency over perfection: Showing up regularly matters more than getting everything right on the first attempt.
  • Develop your own voice: The internet does not need another carbon copy. It needs the perspective that only you can bring.

Every post, story or idea you share is a small step towards becoming the person you want to be. Creation helps you discover what you believe, what you care about and what you want to contribute.

The next time you feel stuck in the scroll, remember that you are one decision away from beginning your own creative journey. Stop waiting to find the perfect version of yourself. Start creating it.
