Packaging for KKrowten’s Kavish Royal Basil Drop, a liquid extract of five kinds of tulsi sold as an immunity tonic. Label and outer carton.

The category it sits in is full of clinical white boxes and stock leaf icons. Tulsi is not a clinical plant. It grows in the courtyard, it is watered every morning, and the knowledge of what it is for is older than any of the brands selling it. So the packaging is drawn, not photographed: the plant in ink on uncoated kraft, in the manner of a botanical plate, with the flowering spike given as much attention as the leaf.

The drawings were worked up as line art first so they would hold at any size and in one colour, then set on kraft in gold, on a deep orange, and in green, so the range can grow without the pack having to be redesigned. The amber dropper bottle carries the same mark small, and the carton opens on a longer description for anyone who wants to read before they buy.
